Teaching Takes Time

Hello Friends, Today was a day of instruction. I was teaching a new volunteer and my son, who has procrastinated studying for a test. Two different kinds of teaching and two different students but teaching nonetheless. Teaching others to do what you know, or what they need to know can be daunting. It really depends on your teaching style and the student. My volunteer was a great student...my son not so much. Glad I didn't home school. I would have gone insayne!
If you love to share your insight and delight in teaching it to others it can be awesome. However it does have it's drawbacks. You may have to slow down. For fast people like me it takes extra effort and time to communicate and instruct clearly, succinctly and thoroughly. Isn't it just faster to do it yourself?
I do want to be a teacher one day that's why I am pursuing my masters. I was thinking about what kind of teacher I will be. It started me thinking about my teaching style. I teach people everyday. I teach people how to treat me by how I treat them. I am able to take large concepts and put them in bite size pieces for some bite size can choke.
I want to believe that I am a patient and kind teacher. Trying to see it from the perspective of the person who doesn't know what you know can be good starting point. If you had to teach one person everything you know how would you go about it? I think the key of being a good teacher is in this question: Are you teachable? If I'm not teachable how can I teach.
